Bingo, or Housie as it is called in Australia and New Zealand, began life as long ago as the 16th century. Its roots lie in Italy where a state run lottery game funded the nation’s coffers. That Italian lottery was a direct ancestor of the game of bingo as we know it today. The game then spread throughout Europe where it appeared in many guises. Anthropologists agree that data collected in the 20th century demonstrated that gambling took place within a large portion of the population of the greatest societies to have existed. Historical and archaeological evidence validate the existence of gambling throughout the ages and culture of most civilisations.
Earliest exhibits of gambling are dated as far back as 2300 B.C. in ancient China where gambling artefacts have been excavated. A set of ivory dice dating from before 1500 BC were salvaged from Thebes, while specific writings mentioning gambling were found on a tablet in the Pyramid of Cheops. Read the full post

Bingo history started way back in 1530, “Lo Giuoco del Lotto D’Italina” was an Italian lottery which up until the present day is still being played in Italy every Saturday.
It was in the late 1770’s that it was introduced to France. “Le Lotto” was its name in France. This is a game that only the wealthy Frenchmen were allowed to play. In the 1800’s, Germans played their own version of Bingo, however, they used the game as a tool to help students in Germany to learn their spelling, math and history. Read the full post

Bingo has its roots originated from the Italian lottery games since sixteenth century and similar to all the family lotto games this is also entirely a game of luck and chance. The result of the game depend on the selection of the numbers that is chosen by the players, however the game does not include any skills or strategy. Bingo may seem like a relatively new invention, but the origins of the game date from the 16th century. We can extend as far back as 1530, an Italian lottery called “Lo Giuoco del Lotto D’Italia, “the latest and every Saturday in Italy, this game is still played today.
